Winter Weather Advisory in Effect

The National Weather Service in Cleveland has issued a Winter Weather Advisory for the non-lakeshore counties of Trumbull, Portage, Summit, Stark, and Mahoning from 7pm this evening through 7pm Friday.

All the models agree on tonight and tomorrow’s situation to an extent, so the forecast is fairly confident. Snow should begin spreading into the area later this evening and become heavier and steadier through the overnight hours. 2 to as much as 4 inches of snow may be on the ground by Friday morning. Another inch is possible Friday before the precip changes to a mix of sleet and freezing rain Friday late morning and afternoon. Once temperatures lower again Friday evening, the transition to all snow will take place, but the heaviest precipitation will be over. Ice accumulations are expected to only be a tenth of an inch or so.

This is not expected to be a huge storm, but it is expected to bring travel difficulties and be a problem for motorists. Use extra caution and allow for some extra time when driving in the morning. While severe winter weather is not expected, be alert for rapidly changing weather conditions and monitor the latest forecasts.
