Isolated Storms this Evening

Posted by ns62590 on May 31, 2008

We had a breezy day today, but this evening we will see the chance of a thunderstorm. This afternoon, a few isolated thunderstorms popped up across northeastern Ohio. One or two of these storms may bring a quick shot of rain this evening along with gusty winds and some thunder or lightning. However, not much in the way of significant severe weather is expected. The chance of rain ends late tonight as the cold front will have moved past our area. Have a great evening!

Hurricane Season Kicks Off 1 Day Early

Posted by ns62590 on May 31, 2008

Even before I got the Hurricane Season 2008 Page begun on the blog, the season’s first tropical storm formed earlier today in the Western Caribbean Sea. Tropical Storm ARTHUR as of 2pm Saturday was located 50 miles North-northeast of Belieze City, Mexico. Winds are near 40 mph. Arthur formed from the remnants of Tropical Storm Alma who formed in the eastern Pacific and made landfall earlier this week. Arthur is now inland across the Yucatan Peninsula, but may emerge over the southern Gulf of Mexico Sunday and strengthen before striking Mexico’s Gulf coast. No extreme threat is anticipated for the United States with this storm.

Severe Threat

Posted by ns62590 on May 29, 2008

We had yet another beautiful day today and tomorrow afternoon will be nice as well. However, as we head into tomorrow late evening and overnight, the threat of severe weather returns to the valley. At this time, it appears that the best opportunity for severe weather will be after 9pm tomorrow night. I will have a better idea if and when severe weather is in the forecast tomorrow afternoon. Until then, look to the SPC outlooks in the blogroll for the latest severe weather information. For tonight, skies will be clear with lows around 44 degrees. Tomorrow’s highs will be warm at 78 degrees.

Frost Advisory

Posted by ns62590 on May 28, 2008

We will get very cold for this time of the year overnight as lows drop to around 38 degrees. Please protect any vegetation or plants you may have outside. However, Thursday’s weather will rebound nicely as sunny skies will once again be on the menu with highs around 70 degrees. The chance of rain will return Friday afternoon and evening, with the chance of some severe weather. We will see how this turns out. Until later, have a great night and stay warm!

Nice Stretch of Weather

Posted by ns62590 on May 27, 2008

After a rather cloudy and cool day today, look for improving weather the rest of the week. Expect a sunny day tomorrow, Thursday, and part of Friday. Tomorrow’s highs will be in the mid 60s. Tomorrow night the only issue we have will be the potential of frost. The SPC’s extended outlooks are showing possibly some severe weather on Saturday. However, this is a long way away, and as you saw from Monday, it takes the perfect set-up for severe weather to occur. Until then though, enjoy this. Even though it’s not 80 degrees, it will be nice, so enjoy it!

Humid Night

Posted by ns62590 on May 26, 2008

While we were spared severe thunderstorms this afternoon, we did see some heavy rain at times. There is still the chance of some isolated severe cells this evening and overnight, widespread severe storms are no longer expected. It will be humid until tomorrow morning when the front passes through and tonight’s lows are only expected to drop to around 64 degrees. Tuesday’s highs will only be about 66 degrees and much less humid. The chance of rain will run until about noon, with mostly cloudy skies for the afternoon with still a chance of a few sprinkles. All-in-all, expect a nice Tuesday. Have a good one.

Memorial Day Weather

Posted by ns62590 on May 26, 2008

Well, it looks like our dry streak is going to end today as we will expect to see showers and thunderstorms to affect our weather today. There will be the chance of a few showers or rumble of thunder this morning, but as afternoon heating kicks in, expect showers and thunderstorms to redevelop any time after 3pm. The amount of sun that we see this morning and early afternoon will help determine the severe weather threat today. We are in the 15% probabilities for severe weather (wind damage) from the SPC, so there is a pretty good chance someone in northern Ohio will see some severe weather today. Keep an eye to the sky this afternoon for any problems that may arise. Until then, have a great Memorial Day everyone!

Your Severe Weather Authority

Posted by ns62590 on May 25, 2008

Tomorrow is the first day a real threat of severe weather is expected across the valley for the season. Don’t delay or postpone your Memorial Day plans because the threat will be late in the afternoon. The Storm Prediction Center has our area under the slight risk, but it will be monitored for upgrades tomorrow. I will have more details about the day tomorrow morning. Overnight tonight expect lows to only drop to around 54 degrees. Tomorrow will be warm (around 80) and a little more humid than we are used to. Have a great night.
