We had a beautiful day today. Sunny skies were the tall order of the day, and will continue throughout the afternoon and evening. Overnight, we will see a few more clouds with temperatures dipping down to around 58 degrees. Tomorrow, however, will be an interesting day. There are a few differences in the models regarding severe potential. The severe threat depends on the location and timing of a line of thunderstorms forecast to be over the western part of Ohio. Should these storms be weaker, a new line will be able to develop in the afternoon. However, at this time, the SPC has our area under 30% probabilities, as shown in the SPC graphic below. Check back to Youngstown WeatherWATCH tomorrow morning for an update on the weather situation. Until then, have a GREAT night!

The first named storm of the 2008 hurricane season, Tropical Storm Arthur, has been downgraded to a tropical depression this afternoon, and is now dissipating over the southern Yucatan Peninsula. Heavy rains will continue over portions of Central America and the Yucatan, though. Tonight at 11pm, The National Hurricane Center has issued the final advisory on Arthur.

It’s a new month, and after a cool and rather wet May, the first week of June seems to be unsettled, but warm….VERY warm. Highs on Friday this week may reach the upper 80s! Yeah, to my displeasure I just said upper 80s. However, we will see the chance of some thunderstorms in there too. The most likely day for storms will be Tuesday. As for your Monday, though, we will see partly cloudy skies with temperatures around 78 degrees. Enjoy it before the real heat comes.
