Severe Threat

Posted by ns62590 on June 21, 2008

There is the possibility of severe weather this evening across the Mahoning Valley. At this time there is a line of severe thunderstorms across Northern Indiana and moving into northwestern Ohio. If these storms hold together, they will approach the area late this afternoon and into the evening. Check the SPC’s Day 1 Saturday outlook for more information. Other than the threat later, enjoy partly cloudy skies today with temperatures in the low 80s.

Storms Possible Tomorrow

Posted by ns62590 on June 20, 2008

As I stated in my last entry, summer begins tonight at 7:59pm! We had a great day today – right up my ally too: not too hot; not too cold. Tonight as we welcome summer we will dip down to a low in the middle 50s, so it will be pleasant.

For your Saturday, it will be nice in the low 80s, but there will be the chance of some storms in the afternoon. These storms have the potential to be severe. I’ll update this in the morning to spell out the threat if there remains a threat tomorrow. Please check back for details. Have a great night as the first one of the summer season!

One Nice day

Posted by ns62590 on June 19, 2008

After a rather cool week, your Friday looks great! Sunny skies are in the forecast and temperatures will be in the upper 70s. Enjoy this because there is the chance for some storms at some point this weekend as the SPC already has us under slight risk for Saturday.

As we say welcome to summer at 7:59pm Friday, I want to welcome all new visitors to Youngstown WeatherWATCH. I noticed that we have people visiting the site from links provided by Mahoning Valley Forums and other websites. I hope you enjoy this site. Any comments about how I can improve the site are always welcome. Enjoy the site and have a great night Youngstown!!!!

Still Cool

Posted by ns62590 on June 18, 2008

I know most of you have been upset by the cooler than normal weather we have seen recently, but I have been enjoying it greatly!!! Tomorrow will feature more of the same as temperatures will be in the upper 60s with cloudy skies. A few peeks of sunshine are possible though. Tonight my friends will be one of the coldest nights in a long time as we will dip down to around 45 degrees. Stay warm and have a good night!

Summer Starts this Week???

Posted by ns62590 on June 17, 2008

Yes, summer begins on Friday, and today’s high was in the 60s. We will continue to be under the influence of cool weather over the next several days as well. Your Wednesday’s highs will be around 62. There will be a few scattered showers around as well, and cloudy skies to keep the temperatures low. I know it doesn’t seem like summer is here – but it is. The temperatures will rebound into the 70s this weekend.

Isolated Showers

Posted by ns62590 on June 16, 2008

Once again, we were spared the severe weather today as the majority of the storms were located in southern Ohio and Western P.A. However, there is still an outside chance of an isolated shower or t-storm this evening, but nothing widespread is expected. For the majority of the evening, expect partly cloudy skies with temperatures falling into the low to mid 50s. For your Tuesday, there is about a 40% chance of some rain showers, but nothing exciting is expected as highs climb to around 68. The below normal temperatures are expected to continue the majority of the week. Enjoy it!

Maybe a Storm???

Posted by ns62590 on June 15, 2008

Since the air around our area is somewhat stable, the severe threat for tonight is somewhat subdued. There was a nice line of storms in Indiana and Southern Michigan that was working into western Ohio but have weakened considerably tonight. However, the SPC still has our area under the slight risk for severe storms overnight, so keep your guard up. Should an isolated severe cell pop up, look to services issued by the National Weather Service.

Finally!

Posted by ns62590 on June 14, 2008

As I mentioned in May, Youngstown’s severe weather season is basically in June and July. We fell right in that today as we saw our first real dose of severe weather for the season. There were wind damage reports all over Austintown and surrounding areas. Even a tree fell on the road right down the street from my house. Anyway, I want to apologize to the viewers of Ytown WeatherWATCH, I was away from the house all day today, so I was unable to report any storms. That is why I always leave up the SPC outlooks and Storm Prediction Center links for the absolute up-to-the-minute severe weather information. For your Saturday, there will be more thunderstorms after 5am, but these appear to be under severe limits. Should the cold front slow down a little bit, we might have to contend with some storms again tomorrow afternoon. However, as like today – I will not be available to update the site tomorrow, so look to the National Weather Service, and I will update the links in the morning. Have a great night and a great Saturday.

Another Hot One!

Posted by ns62590 on June 12, 2008

Boy today was very hot. Another hot one is forecast tomorrow – but with more humidity than today. That will be due to the warm air mass ahead of the front that will bring us the chance of rain and storms late in the evening into Saturday morning. At this time it appears the severe weather will stay to our west, but I will watch the latest developments tomorrow for everyone. Other than that, tomorrow will feature partly cloudy skies with highs near 88. Heat indices will range from 92 to 95 degrees. Be careful if you will be outside.

Warming Back Up

Posted by ns62590 on June 12, 2008

After a beautiful day today, tomorrow and Friday will be hot again with temperatures for your Thursday around 85 degrees. and towards 88 on Friday. Friday will be more humid than tomorrow, so it won’t be unbearable. Enjoy the nice weather. The chance for rain appears again late Friday afternoon and into the evening/overnight period into Saturday morning.
