Dolly Makes Landfall

Posted by ns62590 on July 23, 2008

Hurricane Dolly (100 mph) is making landfall as of 2pm Eastern time as a category 2 hurricane. The center is onshore just near South Padre Island, TX and about 35 miles Northeast of Brownsville, TX. Some minor damage has been reported across south Texas and a huge threat will be heavy rain and flooding because the hurricane is moving so slow at about 7mph. These totals could be over 10 to 12 inches of rain across southern Texas. Wind gusts to 60 and 70 mph have been reported in Brownsville and I’m sure there are higher gusts where the actual eye is onshore, that haven’t been reported yet.

For the latest on Hurricane Dolly, The Weather Channel is having all day coverage on the hurricane and you can log on to the website of the National Hurricane Center at www.nhc.noaa.gov- the link is available on my blogroll.
