Even though the 2008 hurricane season just concluded a little over a week ago, researchers at Colorado State University released their first 2009 Hurricane Season outlook today. These outlooks are based on the computer model’s forecasts on wind shear, water temperatures, and climatological data. Dr. William Gray and his team compiled the prediction that showed 14 named tropical cyclones with 7 hurricanes and 3 of those becoming major hurricanes (category 3 or higher). Even though the official beginning of hurricane season isn’t for another 5 and a half months, it is never too early to begin preparing for hurricanes, and all other natural disasters. As we get closer to June 1st, more up-to-date hurricane outlooks will be issued by us here at Ytown WeatherWATCH and NOAA.

Changing to Snow
Posted by ns62590 on December 10, 2008
The high temperature for today was already reached overnight, and temperatures have steadily fallen this morning. Temperatures will continue to drop this afternoon and settle around 30 degrees. A few showers will be around early this afternoon and then change to sleet and snow this afternoon, but not much in the way of accumulation is expected. Be careful if you will be out and about this afternoon, and have a great Wednesday!
