Another Advisory

Posted by ns62590 on December 18, 2008

We will see another round of wintry weather as we head through the next 24 hours here in the Mahoning Valley. This storm system will be very similar to the last storm that affected the area on Tuesday night. We will begin the evening with temperatures in the upper 20s, but as temperatures warm into the lower 30s, the precipitation will turn into a mix of sleet and snow, changing over to freezing rain overnight. We expect about 1 to 2 inches of snow and sleet and up to a tenth of inch or two tenths inch of ice accumulation. However, the freezing rain will turn into just plain rain as temperatures warm above freezing later Friday morning and into Friday afternoon, before changing back into snow Friday evening. Don’t expect much more snow accumulation Friday evening.

A Winter Weather Advisory has been issued for Mahoning County, while points north (Trumbull, Portage, Ashtabula) are under Winter Storm Warnings; from midnight tonight through 4pm Friday.
