Moderate to Heavy Snow Expected

Posted by ns62590 on January 10, 2009

Our winter storm is in full swing across the Mahoning Valley this morning. We have already seen snow totals of 3 to 4inches across the area, while the worst of the storm is yet to affect us. As of 6am, a band of light to moderate snow was stretched between Akron and Mansfield, with heavier snow working in from the west. These heaviest bands will affect the area between 7 am and noon, with light to moderate snow expected through early evening, before tapering to snow showers tonight. Additional snow accumulations of 3 to 5 inches is expected today, bringing storm totals to 7 to 9 inches. A winter storm warning remains in effect through 1 am Sunday. If you do not need to venture out today, the best advice is; don’t! Keep roads clear for emergency vehicles and snow removal crews. Many townships have parking bans in effect as well. If you must travel, be very cautious. For more information on this storm and how it is affecting the Mahoning Valley, keep it here to Youngstown WeatherWATCH, MVRed.com, and local TV News media.
