Winter Storm #1 is History
Posted by ns62590 on January 11, 2009
We here in the Mahoning Valley have survived our first major winter storm of the season. Many locations received snowfall totals of between 10 inches and a foot. The Youngstown airport received about 11.3 inches of snow yesterday, while Cleveland Hopkins airport received about 8. I will post official storm totals sometime this week. Here in Austintown, we even saw some freezing drizzle and sleet for a short period during Saturday evening. However, the main area of snow is now in eastern PA, and heading into the Northeast and New England. However, the extreme weather is just starting for the week here in Northeast Ohio! A few more clipper systems will work their way into the valley this week, bringing a light snowfall to the area. But, this time the main story will be the cold weather. The coldest air of the season is expected to be upon us this week. For your Sunday, however, we will see mostly cloudy conditions with highs near 26 degrees. The roads are still snow covered and slippery, so use extra caution out there tonight and Sunday!
