Lake Effect Snow

Posted by ns62590 on February 22, 2009

Call me weird if you want, but I like big snowstorms much more than this lake effect snow! Tonight, however, will be a lake effect event. We will see off and on spurts of heavy snow overnight through parts of your Monday. Highs will be near 24 degrees. Remember that, in lake-effect sn0w, conditions vary very rapidly. Conditions go from heavy snow and reduced visibilities to sunny skies just a mile away. Use extra caution and allow yourselves some extra time for the drive to school and work tomorrow. Have a great Monday!

Saturday Snow

Posted by ns62590 on February 20, 2009

An Alberta clipper will spread snow (and maybe a little rain) into the region Saturday afternoon and evening. Accumulations will be generally 2 to 3, maybe 4 inches. During the duration of the snowfall, it should generally be light. However, there will be the possibility of some heavy squalls from time to time. There will also be windy conditions, which will create low visibilities from time to time. The majority of the snowfall should fall between 2 and 9pm, but it won’t be during the entire time. Be careful if you will be venturing out tomorrow. Have a great Saturday!

More Snow

Posted by ns62590 on February 19, 2009

We had off and on snow today, and that is expected to continue overnight into your Friday. Friday will see a few snow showers, but the main event will come for the first half of your weekend. We will see a decent amount of snow with a storm system coming from the Northern Plains. I will have more information on this in my post Friday evening. Until then, have a safe commute Friday morning and enjoy your TGIF!

Snow Returns

After a brief switch to spring, we are on our way back to the reality of winter as temperatures will fall to the mid 20s overnight. We will see the drizzle change to snow showers overnight and continue the day on Thursday. While we won’t see continuous snowfall all day tomorrow, we will see off and on snow with accumulations of 2 to 3 inches possible by Thursday night. Thursday’s highs will be only around 26 degrees. Have a good Thursday, stay safe out there Youngstown!!!

Messy Middle of the Week

Posted by ns62590 on February 17, 2009

A storm system coming in from the west will be impacting our weather for your Wednesday. With high temperatures in the middle 40s, the majority of the storm will be all rain. However, we will see some snow overnight through early Wednesday morning  before the changeover takes place. Then as the temperatures go down behind the front Wednesday night, the rain will change back to all snow. We may see an inch or two of accumulation Thursday. These are the very dangerous situations because once we have a rainfall, and temperatures drop below freezing that night, spots of black ice are common. This was the result of a tragic accident that took the life of a local teenager Sunday night. Keep that family in your prayers and PLEASE use extra caution while driving over the next few days. Stay safe and have a great Wednesday everyone.

Nice Tuesday. Then….

Posted by ns62590 on February 16, 2009

Your Tuesday looks to be pretty decent as temperatures will peak just under 40 degrees with partly cloudy skies. When you wake up Tuesday morning, temperatures will be cold, however, as we will dip down to 15 degrees. The big story for the week is another storm system that will work through the area Tuesday overnight and Wednesday. I will have more on this story tomorrow. Until then, have a great Tuesday!!!
