First Depression!

Posted by ns62590 on May 28, 2009

Four days before the official start of the 2009 Atlantic hurricane season, the first tropical depression formed today. As of 11pm the center of Tropical Depression One was located in the Northwestern Atlantic about 255 miles south-southeast of Nantucket, Mass. The depression is too far north to strengthen much, if at all. However, it will just take 4 more mph for the storm to be classified as Ana, the first name on the list for 2009; but since the depression is so far north, it will have to strengthen quickly before the waters get too cold.

Back to Gloomy

Posted by ns62590 on May 25, 2009

After a long stretch of beautiful weather, we will have a chance of rain and a few thunderstorms for your Tuesday. Weather for your Wednesday and Thursday will be more of the same, as we will run the risks of showers and thunderstorms those days as well. Temperatures will be very close to normal throughout the week as we will be near 73 to 75 degrees.

Cooler

Posted by ns62590 on May 24, 2009

For the holiday on Monday, we will have beautiful weather. Temperatures will be a little cooler than in recent days, as highs will be around 76 degrees. The chance of rain comes back in our forecast though as we head through the work week. Have a great day off, and may God bless America and those who are fighting and have fought for the freedoms we share.

Perfect Friday

Posted by ns62590 on May 21, 2009

If today was too warm for you (it sure was for me), then tomorrow will be better. We will see partly cloudy skies with temperatures around 79 for the high. We made it to 83 today. We will stay fairly dry through your holiday weekend, but stray afternoon showers or thunderstorms are possible.

Beautiful Afternoon

Posted by ns62590 on May 19, 2009

After the cold and frosty start to the day, we have warmed nicely this afternoon and I think I’m gonna head out golfing. Our high temperature this afternoon will be around 73 degrees, so if you can get out and enjoy it! The weather looks picture perfect for most of the rest of the week.

FREEZE Warning

Posted by ns62590 on May 17, 2009

Tonight will be a very cold night in the Mahoning Valley. We have been hoisted under a freeze warning through 8am Monday because our low temperatures will be under the 32 degree mark. This will be devastating to crops left out in the open air. Farmers and  persons with agricultural interests should cover or bring in their plants. We will drop to 29 by morning, but will rebound nicely tomorrow though, as highs will reach the low to mid 60s with sunny skies! Enjoy it!

Pre-Season Action?

Posted by ns62590 on May 17, 2009

Two weeks before the beginning of the 2009 Atlantic Basin Hurricane Season begins, an area of disturbed weather in the Caribbean will bring tropical storm-like conditions to the Florida peninsula later in the week. An area of disturbed weather located in between Cuba, Jamaica and Hispaniola, will drift northwestward over the next few days, and bring increased surf, rain, and some breezy conditions to Florida beginning later Monday. While tropical storms are possible in May (there even have been named systems in April), this system will just be a disturbance bringing some much needed rain to the southern parts of the Sunshine State. If it does strengthen into a named system though, the first name on the 2009 list is Ana.

Stellar Friday

Posted by ns62590 on May 14, 2009

Friday will be a wonderful day to wrap up the week. Skies will be partly cloudy and temperatures will top out around 74 degrees. The nice weather won’t stick around long, as another storm system will bring the chance of rain and thunderstorms overnight Friday and into the first half of your weekend. However, to end on a good note – we should see a fairly dry week next week. Something to look forward to……..

More Rain

Posted by ns62590 on May 13, 2009

We had some passing showers ahead of the frontal system bringing devastating storms to the middle of the country. Luckily when the system comes through the Mahoning Valley overnight into Thursday morning, it will lose most of its punch. However, we will see some rain showers towards daybreak, possibly some gusty winds and a rumble or two of thunder. It will not be as cool tonight as it has in the past few nights, as lows will only be in the mid 50s. Thursday will be about 70 degrees, with the chance of showers and thunderstorms even after the main round of rain in the morning.
